“Maybe People Like Me Don’t Get to Change” (Why That’s a Lie That’s Kept You Stuck)

You don’t need to feel ready. You just need to want more than the stuck cycle you’ve been living in. That’s where real change begins.

Ever had this thought?

“I see others changing, growing, healing… but I don’t think that’s possible for me.”

I hear this from high-achievers, entrepreneurs, and brilliant people more often than you’d believe. They see someone else make a massive shift and think:

“Good for them… but I’m different.”

Not special different.

More like: defective different.

Too broken. Too messy. Too far gone.

They might scroll past transformation stories online and feel inspired—but also weirdly ashamed. Because deep down, they don’t feel worthy of that kind of turnaround.

Maybe that’s you.

Maybe, secretly, you believe that people like you don’t get to change.

Let me tell you a story.

He Almost Walked Out

There’s a guy I worked with—we’ll call him Marcus.

Marcus had built a successful business, but internally, he was hanging on by a thread. Anxiety ran the show. Every time he made progress, he’d sabotage it. Self-doubt was his default. He thought therapy was too soft and coaching was too salesy. But life kept unraveling.

He booked a consult with me, and I’ll never forget what he said five minutes in:

“I think I just needed to hear someone say it’s not too late for me. That I’m not too far gone.”

Here’s the wild part:

He almost didn’t show up. Because deep down, he believed the help worked for other people—the “together” ones. Not for him.

And yet...

A Month Later, Marcus Said This:

“I’m not waking up with dread anymore. I’ve actually had a few days of peace in a row. I don’t think I’ve ever had that.”

What changed?

Not his intelligence. Not his hustle. Not his worthiness.

The only thing that changed was his decision to stop believing the lie that he wasn’t allowed to change.

Here’s the Trap We Fall Into

We look at others thriving and assume they started off more capable.

We think:

  • “They must not have my baggage.”

  • “They must be more disciplined, more mentally strong, more emotionally balanced.”

  • “They probably had more support growing up.”

And maybe they did.

But that’s not what changed their life.

The turning point was when they stopped waiting to feel worthy of help.

They reached out while still doubting themselves.

They took the leap anyway.

So What Does the Other Side Look Like?

When clients start this journey with me, they often can’t even articulate what they want yet. They’re just tired of the noise. The cycles. The panic, burnout, self-sabotage, or shame.

But a few weeks in, I start to hear things like:

  • “I’m actually sleeping again.”

  • “I didn’t spiral when that thing went wrong.”

  • “I said no for the first time and didn’t feel guilty.”

  • “I’m not afraid of success anymore.”

And eventually…

“I feel like I’m living a life I didn’t think was possible for me.”

The Life You Think You Don’t Deserve? It’s Closer Than You Think.

I’ll shoot it to you straight:

You don’t need to feel ready.

You don’t need to believe in yourself.

You don’t even need to be 100% sure this will work.

You just need to want something more than the stuck-ness you’ve gotten used to.

Because the truth is—this version of you? The one who feels undeserving?

They’re not broken. They’re bruised.

And there’s a path forward. Not just to cope—but to thrive.

You don’t have to stay the outsider in your own transformation story.

Let’s Rewrite the Ending

If you’re tired of thinking that people like you don’t get to change… then maybe that belief is the very thing we need to uproot.

Your ideal life isn’t a fantasy. It’s just on the other side of self-sabotage, and that’s exactly what I help people dismantle.

You’re not alone in this. You’re not too late. And you’re definitely not the exception.

You just haven’t been given the map—until now.

Let’s talk about what your journey could look like.

It starts with one step.
